Entrepreneur’s Dream Comes to Life with Dominion Construction Partners

Sugar and Hive

Dominion Construction Partners (DCP) recently completed work on the new Sugar & Hive beauty bar in Short Pump. Sugar & Hive is the realization of a dream for owner Summer Layton. To start Sugar & Hive, Layton sold her insurance company and combined her passion for all things beauty with her business background. Fortunately, DCP could match her passion with our experience.

Sugar & Hive is located in the fast-developing GreenGate community. With its modern, airy, feminine atmosphere, the new space is the perfect fit for GreenGate’s live/work/play vibe.

DCP’s goal with this project was to translate the client’s dream into a beauty bar that reflects her passion. To do that, we worked closely with the client to value-engineer every aspect of the new space. And we used our skill in building out retail spaces to easily accommodate the client’s evolving vision. Our expertise here allows the Sugar & Hive to get a welcoming space that combines beauty and a sweet southern hospitality that is elegant and warm.

Project Highlights

  • Capturing an entrepreneur’s vision. Sugar & Hive is Richmond’s first open-concept beauty bar specializing in skin, brows, and lashes. With so much at stake, it was critical for the owner to have a construction partner who understands how important this new business is … and one who is capable of making changes as the client’s vision emerges. DCP has vast experience working with entrepreneurs as they launch their new businesses.
  • From bare dirt to sweet southern hospitality. GreenGate is a new live/work/play community in Richmond’s Short Pump. As this vibrant new neighborhood is rising, DCP’s expertise is able to streamline the building process for our clients. We work closely with architects and designers to build a space that’s ready to welcome customers. Our success as partners is built on our deep understanding of the client’s business, our acute attention to detail, and our commitment to value-engineering each project to stay on budget.
